Hifazat — हिफ़ाज़त
उर्दू अदब की हिफ़ाज़तPreserving the literary heritage of Awadh through archives, publications, and the careful documentation of oral traditions before they are lost.
Born from Lucknow's soil, nurtured by its poetry, driven by the need to preserve what is irreplaceable.
Tehzeeb E Awadh Foundation was established in 2019 with a singular conviction — that the civilisational inheritance of Awadh, its Urdu poetry, its Nawabi refinement, its architecture of feeling, must not be allowed to fade into footnotes.
Lucknow gave the world Mir Taqi Mir's anguished ghazals, Hasrat Mohani's romantic verse, the Kathak of the Kalka-Bindadin gharana, and the Awadhi cuisine that has no rival. We exist to ensure that this inheritance is celebrated, documented, and passed to the next generation.
We organise Mushairas, youth poetry contests, calligraphy workshops, literary symposia, and the annual Jashn-e-Awadh festival. Our work bridges the classical and the contemporary — inviting young voices to discover the depth of Urdu while honouring the masters who built it.
